Hello

24 Nov

It’s not quite so sunny now is it? I was positively freezing last night. Heated blankets would be very welcome at this point – just drop them off whenever you want.

Things are getting hectic round here. Everyone is talking about Christmas. As if that makes any difference to me…….you could brighten my Boxing Day by bringing down some Turkey. As if I am not abused enough, I now have to give you a list of notices from the bossy human (Nicky).

There are camps going on all over the Christmas period so come along and hang out with me. You will have to spend loads of time with the horses and ponies too – sorry.

Apparently there are lots of cool things in the shop that you can ask Santa for. We are selling personalized numnahs – you can put your name or your horses name on them (or you could get one with my name on it for me to sleep on). There are also name plaques that you can have in almost any colour with your name on it and a horse’s head too – cool. I assume that this is for the days when you forget what you are called. There are other things like toy horses and trailers and heaps of other useless human stuff.

The kittens are still small and ugly. I attach a picture to prove it. The humans have called them Jaws, Terminator and Fang. I think this is in a bid to turn them into rat killing machines – as if that is going to work! I am still having to wake up and work for at least 30 minutes every day. What was the point in getting them if they do nothing but play and purrrr.

The other picture is of Ben having turn out. It is really cool to see how much the horses love this and I know that the staff all spends loads of time making sure that every horse has at least 2 turn outs every day.

Olympic Superstar Visit

11 Nov

It’s been quite exciting here this week. I am not entirely sure what it means but it sounds important – we had an Olympic rider here teaching all the kids and adults. His name is Clayton Fredericks and he won the Silver medal at the Beijing Olympics. He is on the Australian team. From what I overheard, he is working hard to qualify as many horses as possible for the next Olympics in London. Apparently (and we all know about this), horses can go lame and so an Olympian needs to have back-up horses. An interesting fact – Sailing and Equestrian are the only Olympic sports that men and women compete against each other.

Anyway Clayton taught lots of the kids and the adults and it made me laugh. They worked so hard and he shouted so loud – the adult humans found it really hard I think!!! He was super popular though and as soon as a lesson finished, the riders were straight into the office asking for another lesson. Hopefully he will be back once before the next Olympics.

Next visitor is Andrew Froggart who is a Horse Whisperer. I wander if he talks cat too………………

There have been some comings and goings at the club – these huge trucks arrive and the humans put the horses in them. They pile in hay and food and brushes and combs and a million other things. Then they come back a couple of days later – all the hay and food is gone, they have silly plaits in their mane and have coloured ribbons stuck on their bridles. Quite bizarre if you ask me. Anyway, through extremely clever ease dropping – I have worked out they are going to a horse show in another place. I even managed to find a couple of pictures. The horses definitely come back quite conceited and thinking they are a little bit special.

Okay that’s the latest. Next time, I will tell you about the kittens……………….
